At one time, it was said that the Native Americans
in Louisiana were invisible. Through the tireless
efforts of those working to preserve their heritage,
the tribes in Louisiana are now officially part of
Louisiana's history.
Listed are lessons which will hopefully encourage
adults and children to learn about the first people
living on the Louisiana land. Though stripped of
their property and rights, the Louisiana Native
Americans hold the distinct honor of being
Louisiana's first inhabitants. The lost land however
didn't effect the pride of the state's first
inhabitants. Each tribe's history is a now a
recognizable part of the state's Social Studies
current curriculum. This site offers students
lessons to remember to legacy left behind of the
first Louisianans.
Within this site, you
will find lessons,
PowerPoints,
links,
interactives
for elementary
and middle school
students.
Poverty
Point information and
tribal information can be found, as well that
correlate to the
2008 Louisiana Comprehensive Curriculum.
