My Sister's House Damage After Hurricane
Katrina
Hurricane Katrina hit the New Orleans area on August 29, 2005. The massive hurricane caused one levee to break in New Orleans and flooding occurred. My sister's home at 1370 Mithra (Zip Code 70122) remained with seven feet of water for three weeks. The first five photos show the water that was still there two weeks after the levee break. The remainder of the photographs were taken on October 8th, once my sister Janine and her husband Thomas (Hebert) were able to return to their home to assess damages. Their house will be demolished.
Their family lived in Erath, Louisiana until the end of November. The twins were able to return to their school in New Orleans on January 9, 2006. My sister and her husband were able to return to their jobs as well. Currently they are back in New Orleans in a rented home.
See the story of their pet rabbit "BUGS" who survived 42 days in the house alone! Includes a PowerPoint Story.
