The Child Nutrition Program in an essential part in promoting student health, and is dedicated to the overall well-being of the students of the Vermilion Parish School Board. This program is federally assisted through the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), Summer Food Service Program, and the Meal Benefits Program, which are all available to every student.
All meals served in the district are high in quality and nutritionally balanced. Breakfast and lunch meals are available to all students, school staff, and visitors at prices established by the Vermilion Parish School Board. All menus are planned in accordance with the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 which meets the nutritional requirements for age-appropriate caloric need, and limited fat and sodium.
The district currently serves 9500 students. The average daily participation is approximately 3800 meals for breakfast and 6400 meals for lunch. There are 18 school sites and 20 cafeterias, which includes a satellite operation.
