What a day at Kaplan High School!!!!!!

Today was one of those rare days where you could feel community in the smiles, the laughter, and the aroma of jambalaya filling the air. From the early morning setup to the last bowl served, this campus was alive with Pirate pride and hometown love.

We are truly overwhelmed and undeniably grateful for the outpouring of support at our Jammin’ Jambalaya Fundraiser. Every person who bought a ticket, stirred a pot, handed out meals, or showed up, thank you. You didn’t just support a fundraiser; you supported our kids, our school, and our town.

To our Student Council and BETA student helpers, wow, y’all were the heartbeat of this event. You worked hard, stayed kind, and represented Kaplan High with the class and spirit that make this place so special. You made us proud.

And to Chef Dylan Roussel and his incredible crew, you’re the real deal. Showing up at 4 a.m. with smiles, stories, and a work ethic unmatched… your generosity and professionalism brought this event to life. If anyone is ever planning something like this, he’s the one to call.

Today reminded us why Kaplan is home, because when we come together, there’s truly nothing we can’t do.

Forever grateful. Forever Unstoppable. ☠️

Congratulations to our very own Kaplan High School Student of the Year, Miss Lily Perrin! Lily’s accomplishments are as extraordinary as they are inspiring. Her leadership in the cattle industry and 4-H community has earned her local recognition, including being named Junior Cattlemen of the Year. Here on campus, Lily continues to make an impact as our Student Council President, leading with dedication, humility, and that unmistakable Pirate pride. She represents everything that makes the roots of Kaplan so strong, hard work, integrity, and community spirit. We are incredibly proud of this Unstoppable young woman, the daughter of Chip and Heather Perrin. Once a Pirate, always a Pirate! 🏴‍☠️

PIRATE FAMILY — WE NEED YOU NOW!

We’re being real with you… Our Jammin’ Jambalaya fundraiser (Nov. 1st, 11-1 pm) is off to a slow start. Right now, we’ve only sold 268 tickets. That’s it. In the past, we’ve sold well over double that by this point.

This fundraiser is what keeps teacher and student incentives alive at Kaplan High School. It’s how we fund CLEP testing, rewards, celebrations, and the little things that keep our kids and teachers motivated and proud to be Pirates. Without it, we lose so much of what makes this place special.

Please don’t wait, grab your tickets today!
Buy online here: https://tinyurl.com/mr268auv
Or get them from any KHS student or staff member.

Let’s show what Unstoppable really means, Kaplan. When this community pulls together, there’s nothing we can’t do. 🏴‍☠️

Anyone who works with Coach Shay Herpin knows he actually hates the word “boss.” He believes in a "team." But, today still calls for recognition of the leader who sets the tone for our entire school family. Coach never leads with a pointed finger, he doesn’t have to. His strength lies in humility, his guidance in service. He listens before he speaks, helps before he’s asked, and stands beside you instead of in front of you. Some leaders walk the path of “the boss is always right." Coach Shay walks the path of “the boss is always DOING what is right.” We couldn’t ask for a more grounded, genuine, or servant-hearted leader steering this Pirate ship.

KHS Haunted House is back with vengeance. The gym will be dark, the jump scares will be real, and the screams will echo across Pirate Island. Prepare yourself.

Students who want in on the action, acting, makeup, set crew, line control, or sound, see Coach Tina Roy immediately to volunteer.

Our Pirate family is unstoppable, and this year’s Haunted House will prove it. 🏴‍☠️

Kaplan High School’s 2025–2026 Support Person of the Year: Mrs. Gayla Gaspard!

There are people who make a school run, and then there are people who make a school whole. Mrs. Gayla Gaspard is both. For 28 years, this proud Pirate has given her heart, her energy, and her faith to Kaplan High School. Though her title reads Secretary, everyone knows she’s the heartbeat of the campus. From handling a thousand details before most of us have had our first cup of coffee, to comforting students and staff with her steady voice and Godly heart, Mrs. Gayla is the calm in every storm.

Her work reflects the Herpin Legacy, putting students first, always. She’s the one who quietly saves the day, the one who prays with you when you’re breaking, and the one who reminds us why we do what we do.

Her warmth saves lives. Her wisdom guides us. Her love sustains this ship.
She is the treasure that keeps the Pirate family afloat. 🏴‍☠️

Kaplan High School’s 2025–2026 Teacher of the Year: Miss Angela Sistruck!

There are teachers who teach content, and then there are teachers who change the culture of an entire school. Miss Angela does both. From the moment she steps into her Geometry classroom, her students light up not because the work is easy, but because they know "Miss A" believes in them.

This year, she also stepped up to lead the Pirrettes Pep Squad, bringing energy, organization, and pride that has transformed their presence on campus. Her heart for kids and her hunger to grow are unmatched. Whether she’s helping a student after class, cheering in the stands, or brainstorming ways to make our students and school stronger, Miss Angela embodies everything it means to be a Pirate: loyal, bold, and unstoppable.

Congratulations, Miss Sistruck. You make Kaplan High better every single day. 🏴‍☠️
