Happy Wednesday Pirates! Please be aware that no official decision was made to cancel school any days this week. In the event the weather is forecasted that it may be dangerous for our students, the central office administration will make a decision and that decision will be shared by our website, call out, and Facebook. As of this morning, we will have school all week with a 1/2 day on Friday. Today students are allowed to wear pajamas. We will have the school play today just in case the weather would take a turn for the worse. Calling all parent volunteers!

Due to the cancellation of school based on weather, there will be a change in the date and time of the band Christmas Concert. Please make note: Tuesday Dec 20th at 6pm Rene Rost Middle School Band Concert.

After consultation with the Vermilion OEP office and the local weather stations, Vermilion Parish Schools and Central Office will be closed on Wednesday, December 14th. Forecast for 4-6 inches of rain and possibly flash floods along with wind gust of 50-70 mph have been projected. The Lake Charles Weather Service is also calling for a possibility of this being severe in the early morning hours when buses would be on the road. While there is no exact science to figuring this out, we will tend to side with the experts and put the safety of our students and employees first. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We are currently monitoring the weather with the Office of Emergency Preparedness and with the surrounding school districts. Reports are still unclear on the potential weather threat for overnight and tomorrow morning. Once a decision is made, we will use all of our social media and communication methods to let you know of the district's decision. Please be patient and understanding as we wait for guidance from the weather experts.

Our 5th graders were treated to some Christmas Tree Cakes today for completing 4 or more Zearn lessons last week! Way to go 5th graders! Our numbers are continuing to rise, and our goal is 100% of our kids are reaching their lessons!
