The Vermilion Parish School District continues to strengthen its commitment to student and staff safety with the latest security upgrade. Beginning today, the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office now has direct access to all public school cameras across the parish.

In the event of a crisis, deputies will have immediate visibility into live camera feeds at the affected campus. This advancement allows law enforcement to rapidly assess the situation, pinpoint areas of concern, and respond without delay.

“This system upgrade is a major step forward in reducing response times and ensuring our schools are protected,” said Superintendent Tommy Byler. “Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff, and this partnership ensures law enforcement can act swiftly when seconds matter.”

The integration also works hand-in-hand with the district’s Raptor Emergency Management System, providing emergency responders with precise information on the location of students or staff who may need medical assistance. By leveraging technology, school personnel can stay fully focused on caring for students while first responders are directed where they are needed most.

The Vermilion Parish School District remains dedicated to continuously upgrading safety measures and will provide ongoing updates to parents and community stakeholders.

“We are grateful for the support of our parents and community partners,” the district added. “Together, we are creating the safest environment possible for every student in Vermilion Parish.”School SafetySchool SafetySchool SafetySchool SafetySchool SafetySchool SafetySchool Safety
