Vermilion Parish Students Participate in “Day with the Docs” Healthcare Career Event .
Vermilion Parish, LA – April 2, 2026 – Students from Vermilion Parish recently had the opportunity to explore careers in medicine by participating in the annual “Day with the Docs” program held on April 2. This hands-on experience, coordinated through Louisiana’s Area Health Education Centers (AHEC), introduced students to the exciting and demanding world of healthcare. During the event, students engaged in a variety of interactive activities designed to simulate real-world medical scenarios. Participants observed and practiced basic clinical skills, explored anatomy through laboratory experiences, and interacted with medical students and healthcare professionals. These experiences provided valuable insight into the education, training, and dedication required to pursue a career in medicine. “Day with the Docs” aims to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals, particularly students from rural communities like Vermilion Parish. By exposing students to medical school environments and allowing them to connect with current medical professionals, the program helps students better understand potential career pathways in healthcare. Students who attended the event represented Vermilion Parish High Schools and demonstrated strong interest in pursuing future careers as physicians and other healthcare providers.
